Bacon Crack

Ingredients

• Club Crackers

• Smithfield thick cut bacon

• 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup

• Freshly ground pepper

• Crushed Red Pepper and Cayenne Pepper to taste

Step 1. Ready the baking sheets by putting a wire rack inside an aluminum foil-lined rimmed baking sheet.

Step 2. Cut 8-10 strips of bacon into 4 pieces. Place 32-40 crackers on the wire rack and layer bacon pieces over the crackers.

Step 3. In a small bowl mix the maple syrup with some crushed red pepper and cayenne pepper. Brush the maple syrup mix over each piece of bacon.

Step 4. Bake in an oven preheated to 300°F. After 50 to 65 minutes, pull the baking sheet from the oven, and brush crackers with the remaining maple syrup. Let the crackers cool slightly.

Step 5. Transfer crackers to the serving platter, and sprinkle with freshly-ground black pepper.
