Took on a new hike last weekend. About 1.5 hours from my house is the town of Granite Falls. If you drive past the town and into the land of no cell service you will get to Lake 22 and other fun hiking options. We knew the parking was going to be tricky so arrived at 8:30 and got the last spot in the lot. When reading about this hike it says 5.5 miles but that is if you do not want to go around the lake.
We wanted to so this added about 2 additional miles to the trip. It was totally worth it. As you climb the trail you will spend quite a bit of time scrambling, most of the trip does seem to be a rocky terrain. Poles were very helpful to me both directions but especially on the way down.
The lake is absolutely beautiful, if you want to spend some time bring a picnic breakfast and enjoy the surrounding. We ate fresh berries and saw beautiful wild flowers.
Next weekend I tackle my hardest hike to date…wish me luck!
